1. Back at the hotel I see reports of increased volcanic activity. 2. Even if flights opened tomorrow, first available seat to europe is 27 april (groezrock is 23 april) 3. I’m not thaaaat keen to spend my holiday and money in Dubai. 4. Snapcase probably won’t be able to come in for any shows either.. So I’m heading to dubai airport in a few hours to see about turning tale and heading home! Cut the losses I think. Emirates may even be refunding these tickets apparently so that would make it a bit easier to stomach. Good night arabia.

Long story short (cos wifi is limited): All flights to Europe were cancelled today which means I got to spend another day in the UAE. Let’s be posi hey! So I took a cab into town where life improved phenomenally. Civilisation!! I’m convinced there is more money in this town than anywhere else in the world. I spent the afternoon browsing a 1200 store mall called THE MALL of DUBAI. Largest in the world? Outside it is the tallest building in the world. Next to both is the largest light water fountain music show in the world. And I haven’t been to the yacht mole yet..I’m sure the most insane yachts are parked there. Can’t say I’m too excited about this days prospects. Starting it off with a breakfast buffet at the Royal Crown though, that should perk me up So far this morning all flights to my destination of choice, frankfurt, have been cancelled. My flight status (at 230pm) is listed as a GO, but from what I hear that can change 5mins before boarding and all others earlier this morning were cancelled. Word on cnn is that this could last a good few more days. There are people here at the hotel who have been given a seat to munich next friday only!!? Getting a bit frustrated now, the novelty is wearing off So the plan is to go back to dubai …

I managed to get the last seat on a flight leaving for Frankfurt at 230pm. I truly pray it goes. I’ve been watching cnn in the hotel which in true style has made this volcanic ash story seem pretty serious. Thank heavens I’m not flying to the uk tho, those passengers are gonna be stooook for awhile. I wish my hotel was in Dubai itself and not 20min away in a less exciting area called Sharjar. Its weird that there isn’t a train or subway from here but apparently its being built – this is a relatively new district it seems. Nevertheless I enjoyed my afternoon strolling around the promenade and canal. Reminds me a little of what’s being done …

I’m sure you have all heard the news about the icelandic volcano spewing ash into the atmosphere. As a result all flights to europe have been cancelled. Nice timing. The airline has put passengers into various dubai hotels so its not too bad apart from the fact I’d prefer to be in germany! I took a walk around my hood earlier. Not much to it tho. Nice beach promenade with families braaing and chilling on the lawns. This might be the straight edge capital of the world..no alcohol is sold ANYWHERE. Pretty cool.
